The GM-51329-A Driveshaft Removal Adapter is a specialty tool designed for safely removing driveshafts from all-wheel-drive (AWD) vehicles. These driveshafts are secured by a retaining clip inside the splines, which locks onto the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) or Rear Drive Module (RDM) splined shaft. To release this retaining ring, a significant and sudden force is required.
The GM-51329-A adapter is specifically engineered to fit the grooves on the prop shafts of vehicles such as the Chevrolet Equinox, GMC Terrain, Cadillac XT5, GMC Acadia, and Buick Envision. It is used in conjunction with the essential J-02619-A slide hammer to unseat the snap ring without causing damage. The adapter attaches around the propshaft, and its two halves are tightened together to secure it into the groove. The slide hammer is then used to apply a removal force of 2000-6000N at a rate of 50mm/min.
